Use the chart below to create your dishes by balancing tastes from each column then begin to experiment on your own!
Here's an example:
For example: If I want to make a tomato sauce I wouldn't just use tomatoes I might use tomatoes, mangoes for added sweetness, spinach for a little bitterness, green onions, and basil. You can always use more than one food from each column.
For varied texture I might serve it over zucchini noodles with diced tomatoes and peppers on top. I might even place the zucchini noodles over a bed of chiffonaded spinach.
As far as the aroma goes, the tomatoes, basil, and green onions will take care of that!
If something tastes too rich add a sour or bitter food.
If it tastes too light, add a salty or umami food.
If it is too bitter add a salty food.
If it tastes too salty, add a sweet food.
I hope you enjoy! Experiment! There are endless combinations that are sure to please!
