Hi!! First of all, thank you so much for visiting my site!
I have always loved food and playing in the kitchen! I used to help my parents in the kitchen before I could even reach the counter without standing on a chair. This is what brought me, after a long journey, to the low fat raw food lifestyle. Since my first yoga class at 13, yoga has been a cherished part of my life as well. Through a healthy diet and lifestyle I can now truly say that I am reaping the benefits! It is my goal and passion to share these benefits with as many people as I can!
My journey toward health began in high school. On a whim I decided to stop eating red meat and poultry. During this time I also began a consistent fitness routine and researched fitness and health extensively. In college I learned of all of the sea turtles, dolphins, and other aquatic animals killed through commercial fishing. In an attempt to become a more moral and ethical person I begrudgingly gave up seafood. In the next year or two dairy and eggs became very unappealing to me so these "foods" were left behind as well.
I learned about a raw food diet while searching for ideas for vegan desserts. I quickly began making raw food desserts and eventually, in 2009, began a fully raw diet. This diet, however, was very different than the diet I enjoy today. For about 8 months I ate a fully raw diet consisting of veggies, nuts and seeds, oils, and a limited amount of fruit, which meant that I was eating a very high fat diet. At first I felt amazing, but over time I became very fatigued and my digestion slowed almost to a halt. I also had a candida overgrowth and an itchy painful rash on my face and eyelids. In addition to these physical ailments, I was emotionally unstable and prone to binges on fatty foods like nuts and oils. I thought I was eating the healthiest diet possible, yet I felt horrible. I thought that I was eating the healthiest diet on the planet, but I still didn't feel good and was still having issues with binge eating that I'd struggled with all my life. I knew there had to be an approach to diet that checked ALL the boxes - easy to maintain, weight management, sense of well being, high energy, great digestion.
After exhaustive research I came across the concept of a low fat raw diet, essentially a fruit based diet, at the end of 2009. Within just a few days of trying this seemingly "crazy" diet, I felt great! For several years I went back and forth from a low fat raw vegan diet to a anything goes cooked vegan diet. I never gave up on my goal to sustain that amazing feeling I had the every time I tried a low fat raw diet and I have finally succeeded at sticking to a raw fruit based diet and have experienced more benefits than I ever imagined possible. In addition to feeling great physically I am happier, less stressed, more peaceful, more excited about life, and feel a deep connection to nature, God, and the people around me! Thanks to fruits and veggies, I now LOVE my life! I am currently working on becoming a certified nutrition coach under Dr. Doug Graham.
In order to share my love of yoga with others I became a certified yoga teacher in 2010. I learned under Doug Swenson through his teacher training in Sadhana Yoga Chi, in South Lake Tahoe, CA. This was definitely one of the funnest and most educational things I have ever done! I love yoga almost as much as I love good food! I believe that a low fat plant based diet and yoga are a great foundation for health.
I also enjoy being outside, eating (haha!), traveling, reading, jogging, soaking in the sun, hiking, gardening, juggling, biking, chatting, bird watching, rollerblading, and adventuring.
My passion is sharing the benefits that I've received with others. I offer health coaching to those looking to begin a raw food diet or to anyone interested in incorporating more plant based foods into their current diet.
